2011

2011 marks the beginning of big changes for us.  Today was Owen's 'four month check up,' and he is officially 18 weeks old.

And...he weighed in at 22lbs, 4oz!!!  Which, I guess, is HUGE.  The nurse wasn't feeling well or something, because she rushed through so quickly, we didn't get his length, which really bums me out.  Brant went back to ask her, but she was gone.

We had a TON of questions for our pediatrician, and she answered them beautifully.  Owen is super healthy, and despite what people keep telling me, he DOES NOT need to eat solid foods yet <3

He has two teeth moving in on the bottom (and I am totally scared of nursing once they cut through, by the way).  He is behaving and developing, Dr. Sipher says, like a 6 month old.  One of the best things was when she put him on his belly, he totally found himself in the mirror, broke out in a gigantic smile, and started chatting at/with himself.

He was really fussy today :(  He got what vaccinations we chose to inoculate him with, is teething, is a little congested, and didn't get much sleep.  Right now he's nestled in Colleen's arms, passed out.  I hope he feels better soon, because it breaks my heart.

Also, other relevant news...

3 weeks ago he started really noticing his tongue, so much so that he started trying to mimic my movements with my tongue!  (He can't do what I do, but he tries...)  Around that time he also began to change his baby babble to nonstop, in a higher pitched tone.  He's also really began to chat with himself when he sees himself in a mirror.
Also, I had him inclined on a couple flat pillows (this was about 1.5 weeks ago), and he crunched his baby abs and SIT UP!!!!!!  He's only managed to do it that once, but now he tries all the time, and it is super, super cute.  When we help him sit up he gets this self-satisfied look on his face.  It is priceless.

So this is what it's like to be in love with your baby, huh?

  1. I wrote a whole blog dedicated to people harassing me about giving him solid foods. http://annalisainoly.blogspot.com/2010/01/cohens-first-cereal.html So annoying!!! I love the new header for the blog and am so happy you have taken to motherhood so beautifully!!! TOTAL bummer about the height but I know you can make appointments simply for weight and height check if you want!!! I've done it!
