The Waiting Game

Cara, watching Baby move in my belly

So we are four days 'late,' though (for the most part) we all know late/early is all relative, especially for first time mamas.  On Thursday a birth doula informed us that research is showing most first time moms have a 41 week gestation, rather than the standard 40 week date, which would put us right on track.

Still, it's a little hard.

I feel like I have gratitude and impatience spiraling around me simultaneously.  It's a wonderfully strange place to live.  Because of this gift of 'lateness' I've gotten a chance to participate in some amazing last few days.  Colleen mehndi'd my belly (for those who don't know, this is henna).  Earlier she gave me a foot massage with her ISUN Sapphire Oil~super exquisite (and waay expensive) and very relaxing.  These events are so special to me, because it's like I'm having a personal blessingway with my best friend.

When it was first applied; Colleen FREE HANDED the design!

After it set in (it sets in lighter)

Last night I also got the opportunity to see one of my best friends off. She's heading to New Mexico, and I'll miss her terribly.  A small group of us gathered at our friend Ariel's house and chatted and loved on her.  It was a great, bittersweet night.  I hope this baby comes before she hits the road; she's waited this long only BECAUSE she wants to meet him, but the truck is rented and booked for the 26th, whether baby is here or not.  I'll miss her so much.

So, even though we're still waiting, still impatient at times, it's such a blessing to be able to have had the past few days I've had.  They've really been magical.  And I don't feel as uncomfortable as everyone always told me I'd be.  I feel fine.  Things are definitely...moving forward~I can feel it, but it's not the misery I was lead to believe it would be.

And...now that it's the 22nd, baby, when he makes his debut, will officially be a Virgo!!  We're stacking the world, folks...
