Doula(s)

We had our initial consultation with a birth doula tonight.  It went great.   I know we should interview many more, and I have cards/websites/contact information for 5 others, but we might have found our doula in this one.  We chose to interview her first because she's our top choice.  Her name is Nicole, and her business is Red Raspberry Doula (Herbies should get the connection!).

We met at Caffe Vita tonight, and immediately there was a naturalness to our interaction.  She is so...knowledgeable and capable...without hiding behind it.  It was clear that she was being herself, not acting professional.  She spoke well, spoke to being a support for Brant as well, which is so important to us.  She also spoke to her experiences working in hospitals and at home births.

She makes herbal baby & mama products too, and they are part of the birth doula package!  The ingredients are simple and effective, and this makes the buyer in me happy :)

I've see her around town for years, and hopefully she'll be our birth doula!

As a side note, we are very, VERY lucky!  Not only are we going to have a birth doula, but we are also gifted to have a good friend of ours assist us after the birth for her postpartum doula training.  She's in school for this certification, and must assist 3 families.  She has asked us if we feel comfortable having her (uh, YES!) so we've accepted.

We know how fortunate we are...we're not gloating or anything...just very, very lucky!
