Tiny Flutters

We've been patiently waiting to feel this little boy move.  And Brant is still patiently waiting.  I am not so patient at this moment.  I know he's fine in there, and I know that I'm well within the range of 16-22 weeks, and also that first time moms don't recognize the movements as such because at first they're so subtle.  According to the Bump, you may only notice them if you're lying or sitting really quietly, and they can be pretty infrequent at first.

Another factor is that my placenta is anterior, which means it's lining the front wall of my uterus.  So any movements he's making are still being masked by the placenta.

There are split seconds when I think I feel something.  Probably 4 times, in the past 2 weeks.  And maybe it's him, but they're so subtle, I can't wait until I'm definitely sure it's not my insides shifting (or gas!).  And then, seperately, I definitely feel movement of a different kind multiple times a day, that I've been attributing to intestinal gas.  So I don't know.

I guess it's just time for me to be more patient :)

  1. I was soooooo impatient. I was actually mad at a point because I was so anxious!!! I had an anterior placenta as well. It was so annoying because during my ultrasound I could SEE him moving around, doing somersaults, kicking, but I couldn't FEEL it!!! It drove me crazy. But one late night when I was getting back into bed after peeing for the 5th time, I kinda felt a little flutter. Hard to tell though. But once I felt that, I started recognizing movement. I was around 21 weeks or so. But they say that you can start feeling as soon as 16 weeks!! So of course I wanted that. After that day I started feeling it more and more and more. Then comes your partner being able to feel movement, then SEEING movement. Being patient is rough. I've been there. It was one of the best parts of pregnancy and the thing I miss about being pregnant. For some reason since having Cohen I cannot remember what movement felt like! It's sad.

  2. What helps is to drink some orange juice (higher sugar content, but still not too unhealthy) and lay down on your back or your left side. The sugars and the cold get baby moving - it's worked with both my girls so far!
